It was a quick and easy process on my Arai Profile. The assembly just slide up the bottom of the helmet. They give you a piece of rubber to hold in the bracket so that you don't scratch your helmet's paint job. You'll need a tiny phillips screwdriver to connect the plastic holder to the metal friction bracket. You attach the Xbi2 to the helmet by a bracket and friction. I did start looking into installing the equipment into my helmet. I haven't used the cell phone at all through the setup, I haven't tested the intercom with someone else and I don't have the headsets in the helmets yet, so I'll have to defer commenting on those aspects for a bit. It didn't add any static or noise, although I did have two extremely brief moments when it dropped out, it came right back on its own. I really couldn't tell the difference listening to the music this way versus directly plugging the earplugs into the MP3 player. At first, I thought I might be losing some bass, but a little wiggling on one earplug sat it in my ear better and the sound was improved. I did mow the lawn with the earplugs in, Xbi2 in one pocket and MP3 w/ icompi in the other. I can tell you right now that the speakers sound pretty clear and strong, although this is only by holding it to my ear at the table so far. I am not an audiophile by any means, but I know what I like. I hope to go for a ride soon, perhaps tomorrow, and get some ideas on battery life.Ĭlick to expand.I'll remember to add that in as I work with this setup. I'll test it more tomorrow, but I suspect I am not timing the button presses correctly. Just as I was shutting things off, it played normally. When I tried to switch though, it would play the MP3, but only for a moment, then off for a moment, then on, off, repeat. You have to press a button for 1 second for intercom, but 2 seconds for MP3. They did, but I had a problem going from intercom to MP3. I then went to see if they would all work together. It took slightly longer, but again worked on the first try. Next you pair your MP3 player, which went quickly and on the first try. I tried again and suddenly they were working! I have no idea what I did differently that time. The lights were flashing the correct way, but no joy. It didn't appear that complicated, but despite a couple of dozen attempts, I could not get them to pair. There are written directions included and even several videos on how to do the various operations on YouTube. At the risk of a hi-jack, I thought I'd put down some impressions up to the point where I can actually answer the OP's question.Īfter fully charging up both units, the first thing to do is pair them together.
